One is a classical singer, another a world-class bodybuilder, still another a novelist. There is a Balearic Island DJ, a campaigner against domestic abuse and one even ran for days through the Moroccan desert.

Followers of this blog will know that these are the stars of our #AdviserStories project, which tells of the inspiring ways in which many financial planners are spending their free time. Take a look!

But first some news – we’re beyond excited to tell you that #AdviserStories is being celebrated in a photography exhibition at the inaugural Financial Planner Marketing Summit on June 21 (book here).

Stark black and white portraits of 20 financial planners will be accompanied by personal accounts of defining life events and pursuits – penned by the subjects themselves.

We’ve begun collecting those stories about six months ago when it occurred to us that what unifies financial planners up and down the country is that they know the value of time. After all, quality time is essentially what they are trying to help their clients create.

We wanted to test this theory by looking into the ways in which they spend their own time.

Sure enough, we stumbled across a treasure trove of poignant and inspiring stories. We wanted to celebrate this by commissioning a photography series and we’re thrilled to be unveiling it in front of financial planners themselves.

Big thanks to conference organiser Martin Bamford, of Bamford Media. Here’s what he said about #AdviserStories: “This is a wonderful project, which holds a mirror up to the UK financial planning industry in an entirely new way. We’re expecting lots of interest in the photography and stories.”
