Whenever you fill in a section of a client’s Fact-find, that data has to go somewhere… somehow. When your data gets to its destination, you want to be sure that it’s completely safe and untouchable by anyone but you or your client. Especially when it comes to such sensitive data as personal details, assets, incomes, hopes and dreams: clearly we have to be extremely careful in protecting everything we store. At Advicefront this is always foremost in our minds as we strive to provide the utmost security for your data.

What is happening behind the scenes?

Every single form you fill in at Advicefront has multiple security checks. Each and every time you request to see or change data we make sure that you are who you say you are and that you have clearance to access what you’re requesting. As soon as you submit one of these forms, that information is immediately encrypted, so that no one between you and Advicefront can see what’s being sent — a classic example of a “man in the middle” attack. Once your data gets back to us, we make one final check to make sure that no weird business is going on. We then save it to a secure database accessible only to Advicefront, your data trustee. If, at any point, Advicefront gets suspicious about any activity in your account, we’ll warn you about it. We’ll ask you to check to make sure everything is ok.

The way forward

Data security is a constant race against evil (cue the dramatic music). Application developers must constantly be prepared for smarter and more intrusive ways of stealing or taking over user data. They must consistently stay at the top of their game, constantly monitoring potential future threats and finding ways to neutralize them. That is why we try to be as proactive as possible when it comes to protecting and defending your data.

During the next few months you’ll be seeing some exciting updates to the application as we keep up with our mission to make your experience (and your client’s experience) more secure every step of the way. Upcoming updates will not only be security related but will also include features that advisers and clients can use to cultivate a deeper trust between them.

How can you improve your account’s safety?

Sorry to disappoint you, you’ve probably heard this all before, but it doesn’t make it any less true: keep your passwords to yourself, change them frequently, make them big and easy to remember. Pay close attention to your email notifications and to any security updates or new safety-related features.
